Foot Prints-Reflexology and Inflammation


The adage "you are what you eat" is absolutely true. I am sure we are all aware of the benefits of a healthy diet. But what we may not realize is that having foods and drinks that are full of chemicals and sugars will lead to inflammation in our joints, organs and glands.

When we were younger we could get away with sugary cereals and sodas. Add a multivitamin and feel like we were taking care of ourselves. As we get older, we add some veggies and think we're are still doing ok.

Trouble sets in when the food we eat has less and less nutrition, and even though we may not have symptoms of specific reactions to poor food intake, our bodies are developing disease, which is a normal reaction to an abnormal environment. Disease is a silent process until it speaks to us via symptoms. 

Most of us don't get serious about eating healthier until symptoms appear which make us nervous. Fatigue, headaches, insomnia, anxiety and mood swings can all be signs that our bodies are trying to compensate for the lack of minerals and nutrients in our food. 

Finding foods that make us feel emotionally balanced, symptom-free and full of vitality is quite the challenge. Eating plans and "diets" are so different for everyone. You have to do what is right for your body type, metabolism and lifestyle. Fortunately, while on this journey towards better health, Reflexology can play a key part in helping to arrive at a healthier state, and remain in better balance. 

10 minutes a day of Reflexology can help remove toxins that have built up in our tissues, reduce anxiety, increase circulation and generally lead us into better health naturally. Sit down on a comfortable chair. Put your left foot into your lap. Use some nice light oil and walk your thumbs and fingers all around the bottoms, tops and sides of your foot. Pay attention to sensitive areas. If it feels sore, press on the area for a few seconds, and gently move on to the next area. Once you have completed this with the left foot, change feet and do the same techniques. This helps to reduce tension throughout your body.

You should feel relaxed and happy after a session such as this. Just 10 minutes a day!
