"Never leave that till tomorrow which you can do today" - Benjamin Franklin
Doing seems to be a simple word - it just seems to imply action.
But what is it really? Is action inspired? Or is one of many things to be checked off a long list of things "to do"? Is it something that "just has to be done"?
Chinese medical theory is based on the concept of Yin and Yang and it not only compares to dark and light, night and day but also to activity.
Times of activity are balanced by times of rest. In our 24 hour culture and bigger, better, faster we often get the feeling that doing is always "good" - Productivity is paramount.
Upon reflection however, doing is really the manifestation of being, thinking and creating. Doing cannot exist without thought first; at least productive doing. And it is in the moments of not doing that it gets juicy...that's when we confront and evaluate, ponder and decide.
And when we are in the middle of doing, are we 100% present or already thinking about the next task?
So, before tackling a long list of "to do's" what is it that feels in alignment with who you are and what your purpose is in this world. Take a fresh new look at how you do things. Are you in the NOW?
